Following a five-week offensive in Tigray, the Ethiopian federal government will reward its Amhara, Sudanese, and Eritrean backers with rights to Tigrayan land and assets, while the once-dominant Tigray leadership is being dismantled. As a result, a weakened Ethiopia will now have to deal with a Tigray insurgency that has capability to stage attacks in Addis Ababa, and emboldened neighbours in its various regional disputes where international support has ebbed from Ethiopia.
