A series of armed attacks on major transport infrastructure indicate a significant deterioration in the security situation in Nigeria’s northern Kaduna State. With the Nigerian security forces becoming increasingly overstretched, it remains unlikely that the government will be capable of containing the current increase in violence, worsening the medium-term security outlook for Kaduna and neighbouring states.
