SUDAN: A DEAL ON US TERRORISM STATUS WOULD UNLOCK FRESH FINANCING SUPPORT

Sudan is accelerating its efforts to drop off the US list of state sponsors of terrorism to unlock urgently needed IMF and World Bank funding to prop up its collapsing economy and step up its coronavirus response. A deal is increasingly likely in 2020, although political pressures may still force the collapse of the power-sharing government before any funding is agreed.
