In December, at least six West and central African countries will see elections-related violent unrest, while protests are intensifying ahead of polls in Uganda. There is an elevated threat of civil war in Ethiopia following a military escalation in the northern Tigray region, as well as in Western Sahara after a collapse of the 1991 ceasefire between Morocco and the Polisario Front. A Mozambican counter-insurgency in Muidumbe district, Cabo Delgado province, is unlikely to prove decisive.
