UGANDA: PIPELINE LAUNCH WILL KICK OFF HIGHLY ANTICIPATED OIL SECTOR DEVELOPMENT

The impending launch of an East African pipeline will herald the start of Uganda’s commercial oil development and a large-scale infrastructure build-up. However, revenue flows from crude production are only expected to become sizable by 2024 at the earliest. In the meantime, the Ugandan government needs to address more urgent needs such as economic recovery from the pandemic and curbing a recent uptick in coronavirus infection.
