As debt restructuring talks make slow progress, thus stalling an IMF bailout for the debt distressed country, Zambia’s government increasingly looks to its mining sector for immediate funding relief. While some investors are expected to resume operations in the copper sector and even scale up mining activities, the government has still not offered clarity on a new tax regime or offered stronger contract guarantees.
