Chad may have avoided a sovereign default in 2021 as it becomes the first country to seek help from the G20 common framework, although poor relations with commercial creditors such as Glencore indicate further repayment stress. Meanwhile, the government will seek to fracture the opposition and curb protest and strike activity ahead of two key elections this year.
