The indefinite ban on social media platform Twitter is unenforceable and will have a negative impact on Nigeria’s investment climate. In particular, the government may resume efforts to impose anti-social media legislation ahead of the 2023 elections that curbs free speech in Africa’s most populous nation and sets a new paradigm for other regional countries.
