Apology – Omatapalo

In February 2021, Pangea Risk published a report concerning Angola, entitled “Special Report: US Administration Steps Up Investigation into Angola President and Business Partners”, in which we referred to the locally established engineering company, Omatapalo – Engenharia e Construção, SA (‘Omatapalo’).

We acknowledge that our report may have been understood to suggest that there were grounds to suspect Omatapalo of violating the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and Angola’s Probity Law, and that Omatapalo and its senior management are suspected of involvement in corruption in relation to the award of tenders in Angola.

We now acknowledge that these allegations were unsubstantiated and our report should not have included them. We have apologised to Omatapalo and its directors and senior management, and are happy to set the record straight.
